Omar Reyes Lopez, a 19-year-old male, was last seen on November 10, 2021, near Fort Hancock, Texas. Reyes Lopez was part of a group of migrants traveling through the desert when he got separated from the others. Originally from Hidalgo, Mexico, he was known to have vision issues and a learning disability, making the journey especially challenging for him. His family reported his disappearance after he failed to make contact with them, and they fear he became lost in the harsh conditions of the desert.

Tragically, in December 2021, Mexican authorities located remains believed to be his near the Chihuahuan desert, an area known for dangerous cartel activity and migrant disappearances. His family had been holding out hope for his return but were devastated when the discovery was made. Omar's case is one of many involving migrants who disappear in the perilous desert border regions while attempting to reach the U.S.

Efforts by his family, local authorities, and human rights organizations brought attention to his case, highlighting the dangers migrants face in these remote areas.
