Summary based on the NamUs case record (MP90181) and 8 other sources

Derrick Aidan Kwan, a 27-year-old man, went missing on March 27, 2022, after leaving his family’s home in Diamond Bar, California, to go hiking in the Lake Arrowhead area. He was last seen around 11 a.m. that day, wearing a black t-shirt and shorts. Later, his silver Toyota was discovered abandoned near Highway 138 and Crestline, having sustained minor damage from a collision with a guardrail. Witnesses reported seeing a man matching Kwan’s description running from the crash site toward the nearby woods, carrying two large bags.

Derrick was an experienced hiker but had been struggling with mental health issues leading up to his disappearance. Despite extensive searches by his family, friends, and authorities, no significant clues have surfaced regarding his whereabouts. His family does not believe he disappeared voluntarily, and the case remains unsolved.
