In the late summer of 2022, concern began to grow for 31-year-old Jason James Lee Sheffield. A resident of Connelly Springs, North Carolina, Jason was last seen on August 29, 2022. He was known by those around him to be a frequent walker, often heading out at all hours of the day and night. Although his family had last seen him on August 28 in Hickory, it wasn't until October 22 that the Burke County Sheriff's Office received a formal missing person report.

He has several distinct tattoos, including crosses on both his left and right forearms and the initials 'TR' on his chest.
