In the spring of 1970, on April 20th, a man named Eldie Martin Sylvester was last seen in the area of Christian Island, Ontario. He had made his way to the docks at Cedar Point in Georgian Bay, where he intended to take a 'scoot,' a type of small motorboat capable of traversing both water and ice, back to his home on Christian Island.
