On September 15, 1993, three men were travelling up the Burntwood River in Manitoba to Wuskwatim Lake for commercial fishing. The men left Nelson House and, according to the sole survivor, they hit a rock and the engine stalled. The vessel was not equipped with a starter and the men were unable to restart the motor before passing through the rapids. Despite an intensive search by land, sea and air, the bodies of William and Thomas were never recovered.
