On September 15, 1993, a 30-year-old Indigenous man named Thomas Robert Spence set out on what was intended to be a commercial fishing trip in the vast wilderness of Manitoba, Canada. Accompanied by two other men, Spence departed from Norway House, their destination being Wuskwatim Lake.
