On the evening of October 17, 2008, Amber Mcfarland went to Smitty's lounge with her boyfriend and an acquaintance of his. There they socialized with friends for a while and then moved to the bar at the Canad Inn. They left Amber's vehicle at the Canad Inn and went to the Cat and Fiddle Bar where they continued to socialize.
