In the summer of 2011, a family's life was irrevocably changed when 44-year-old Melissa Jeannette Ekkelenkamp vanished. On July 6th, Melissa walked away from the Alberta Hospital located at 17480 Fort Road in Edmonton, Alberta, where she had been a patient for a week. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as being 5'10' tall and weighing 172 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing jeans and possibly sunglasses.
