On September 18, 1959, Captain Charles David Tillsley, Warrant Officer Tyrus Cobb, Sergeant Major James Mackey, and a fourth companion left Fort Churchill on a weekend fishing trip on the Churchill River in Manitoba. They were last seen loading their gear into a boat at the Churchill Dock at around 1 p.m. They were due back on September 20, but failed to return.
