His roommates confirmed they had last seen him two days prior, on November 6, 2018, at his residence in St. John's. This initiated a search and an investigation into the sudden and perplexing disappearance of Mr. Akbar.
Originally from Bangladesh, Apu Akbar was described as being 5'1' tall, weighing 143 lbs, with grey hair and black eyes, and he wore glasses.
The circumstances surrounding the discovery of his vehicle raised immediate concern. Residents in the vicinity of Kavanagh's Lane and Windgap Road had noticed the car and reported it to the police, stating a male was seen standing by the vehicle on November 6th. When authorities examined the grey Honda Civic, they found it belonged to Apu Akbar. Troublingly, his cell phone was left inside the car, and the keys were still in the ignition. These details suggested that his departure from the vehicle may have been unplanned or hasty. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary quickly launched a search effort to locate the missing man.
