Gavin Cusi Octaviano, a 21-year-old biology student at UC Irvine, was last seen on November 23, 2018, near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. That evening, Gavin had helped his family decorate their Christmas tree and mentioned that he was going to meet friends for dinner. He never returned home. The following day, his family's concern grew, and a search was initiated. His sister’s car, which Gavin had borrowed, was found parked in the north lot of the Golden Gate Bridge.
