On March 10, 2012, 37-year-old Jose Juan Perez Becerra embarked on a fishing trip destined for the Channel Islands off the coast of Ventura, California. He was last seen wearing a light gray or white t-shirt, blue pants, and white shoes. The following day, what was meant to be a recreational outing turned into a tragedy when a capsized vessel was discovered near Santa Cruz Island by the U.S. Coast Guard and other vessels searching the area.
