On May 16, 1994, 13-year-old Christina Marie Plante was reported missing from Star Valley, Arizona. She was last seen leaving her home on foot to walk to a nearby stable to tend to her horse. At the time of her disappearance, Christina was wearing a white t-shirt, multicolored shorts, and black tennis shoes. Her case was classified as "endangered and under suspicious circumstances," prompting extensive search efforts by local law enforcement, volunteers, and regional resources. Despite exhaustive ground searches and interviews, no significant leads were developed, and the case eventually went cold.

For decades, Christina's whereabouts remained a mystery. Her information was entered into national missing children databases, and flyers were distributed locally and across the country in an effort to find her. The Gila County Sheriff's Office periodically reviewed the case, but it remained unsolved. The creation of a dedicated Cold Case Unit by the sheriff's office marked a renewed effort to resolve such long-standing cases.

In a significant breakthrough, in April 2026, the Gila County Sheriff's Office announced that Christina Marie Plante had been found alive. Utilizing advancements in technology and modern investigative techniques, detectives were able to develop new leads that ultimately led to her discovery. While her identity has been confirmed and her status as a missing person officially resolved, authorities have not released specific details about where she was found or what had happened to her, citing respect for her privacy. It has been reported that Christina, now an adult, has been unwilling to cooperate with the investigation into the circumstances of her disappearance but did indicate that she had run away with an undisclosed family member.
