As time passed with no word from Jamey, his family grew increasingly concerned and frustrated. They reported him missing to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office on May 7, 2022. The family's own search for answers was fraught with difficulty and painful rumors. The search for Jamey Holyoak came to a somber conclusion in September 2025. On September 11, 2025, human skeletal remains were discovered in San Juan County. The remains were sent to the state medical examiner's office, where they were confirmed to be human. Through the use of dental records, the remains were positively identified as Jamey Eugene Holyoak. The San Juan County Sheriff's Office notified Jamey's next of kin and publicly extended their condolences to the Holyoak family. While the discovery brought a painful end to the uncertainty, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is considered ongoing, with the location of the discovery being treated as a crime scene.
