In the summer of 2025, a heart-wrenching situation unfolded in Columbus, Ohio, involving a seven-year-old girl named Gabriela Jireth Gimon Palma. On July 11, young Gabriela was placed in the temporary care of her grandmother, Rosibel Galavis Telles, for what was intended to be a family visit. An agreement was made between Gabriela's mother and Ms. Telles that the child would be returned home by July 19. The days passed, and the agreed-upon date for Gabriela’s return came and went with no sign of the little girl or her grandmother. Concern turned to alarm as Gabriela’s mother made multiple attempts to contact Ms. Telles, only to be met with silence. As the reality of the situation set in, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office became involved and a public appeal for help was issued. Gabriela was officially considered a missing child. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a Hispanic female with light brown hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 3 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 66 pounds. When she was last seen on that July afternoon, she was reportedly wearing an orange swimsuit. The circumstances of her disappearance were troubling, suggesting an intentional act rather than an accident, which deepened the anguish for her family and the community. The investigation into Gabriela's whereabouts led authorities to believe that she was with her grandmother, Rosibel Galavis Telles. In response to Ms. Telles's failure to return the child as promised, a felony warrant for custody interference was issued for her arrest. Law enforcement officials also released details of a vehicle Ms. Telles might be driving: a gray 2015 Hyundai Elantra with Ohio license plate KPZ3638. Concerns grew as family members voiced their belief that the grandmother might be traveling south, possibly heading towards El Paso, Texas, with the potential intention of crossing into Mexico. The case is a painful story of a planned family visit that turned into an alleged parental abduction, leaving a mother without her child and a community searching for a missing seven-year-old girl.
