Bartt Sherbrook Felt, a 46-year-old man from Michigan, was last seen on March 23, 2018, in San Juan County, Utah. Felt was en route to Arizona to visit his ailing father and was wearing an ankle monitor as a condition of his probation stemming from a 2016 stalking and domestic violence case. The last known ping from his ankle monitor was at 6 a.m. on March 23, 2018, at the Mexican Hat Bridge over the San Juan River.
On the day of his disappearance, Felt's backpack was discovered on the Mexican Hat Bridge. Inside the backpack was a note that raised concerns for his safety. While the full contents have not been publicly released by authorities, Felt's mother stated the note indicated he "couldn't do it anymore" and expressed anger towards her, his ex-wife, and her boss.
Subsequently, Felt's vehicle was located on the Valley of the Gods road, approximately seven to nine miles from Highway 261 and the bridge where his backpack was found. Despite extensive search and rescue efforts that covered a more than 10-mile radius by foot, horse, and drones, no trace of Felt was found at the time. The San Juan County Sheriff's Office exhausted their resources and appealed to the public for any information that could help move the investigation forward.
