Kevin Heise, a 44-year-old man from Newark, New York, was last seen by his family on September 2, 2022. He had been staying in a camper off Lake Street in the village but had not been there for several days, which raised concerns among his family. Despite extensive searches of the Erie Canal and its shoreline by the Village of Newark Police Department, no trace of Heise was found at the time.
