In early 2024, 55-year-old Brenda Kay White was last seen in the vicinity of MacArthur Drive in Alexandria, Louisiana. For a few months, her absence went unreported until concern for her welfare prompted an official missing person investigation in May of that year. At the time she vanished, White was living at a residence on Bohannon Road in Pineville with a man named Philip Barry Felter. As authorities began to look into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, they soon found reason to suspect that she had met with foul play. The investigation into where Brenda could be took a dark and complicated turn, leading law enforcement down a path that connected her case to another serious crime. The trajectory of the investigation shifted significantly when Philip Barry Felter was arrested in April 2024 in connection with the death of another individual, Buster Evans. Evans's body had been discovered at the scene of a house fire. With Felter in custody for charges that included second-degree murder and unlawful disposal of human remains in the Evans case, investigators began to officially treat Brenda's disappearance as a homicide. By August 2024, detectives had formally identified Felter as a suspect in her case. Information came to light that Felter was in possession of White's bank card and had been recorded on camera using it after she was already considered missing. Months of dedicated investigation continued, with detectives interviewing individuals and gathering evidence. A significant break in the case came through DNA evidence, which provided investigators with sufficient probable cause to secure an arrest warrant for Felter for the murder of Brenda Kay White. In March 2025, while he was already incarcerated for the murder of Buster Evans, Philip Barry Felter was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Brenda's death. The indictment accused him of having killed her sometime during March of 2024. The search for Brenda's remains continued until April 2025, when human skeletal remains were found in a burned-out trailer. According to Brenda's daughter, she was eventually notified by the coroner's office that the remains were a DNA match for her mother. The case of Brenda Kay White, which began as a missing person report, is now a homicide case with a suspect awaiting trial, leaving her loved ones to grapple with the devastating loss.
