In December 2007, the holiday season was unfolding with a sense of unease for the family of Pamela Watson. Just a short time before her disappearance, the 44-year-old had relocated from Houston, Texas, where she had lived for 21 years, to a new home on Odom Street in Alexandria, Louisiana. She had then gone to visit her mother in Lake Charles. On the morning of December 19th, she was last seen leaving her mother's residence. Concern for her well-being mounted as she left without her medication for bipolar disorder, and had no money or identification with her. Her family feared for her safety, knowing that without her medication she could become disoriented, aggressive, or childlike. The family's apprehension deepened when, on January 1, 2008, Pamela's green 1992 Ford Ranger was discovered abandoned. The vehicle was located on Interstate 10 east, about eight miles outside of Baton Rouge at mile marker 141, and had apparently been parked there for at least two weeks. The truck was in running condition and had half a tank of gas. Inside, investigators found her keys and a journal which revealed she had stopped taking her medication two days before she vanished. The same day her truck was found, a possible but unconfirmed sighting of Pamela was reported at an Albertson's shopping center where a woman believed to be her was seen asking for money to buy food. The discovery of her vehicle so far from where she was last seen prompted her family to extend their search efforts from Lake Charles to West Baton Rouge, passing out fliers in a desperate attempt to find her. The family expressed that the holidays were a difficult time, overshadowed by the uncertainty of Pamela's whereabouts. Her brother voiced the family's distress, explaining that they couldn't focus on Christmas or New Year's while their sister was missing. The case was filed in Rapides Parish, as Alexandria was her new place of residence. As the youngest of ten children, her absence was deeply felt by her large family. Despite the passage of time, Pamela Watson's case remains unsolved, leaving her loved ones with unanswered questions.
