Vickey Carolyn De Laurier, a 44-year-old office manager, vanished after leaving her job at a Sav-A-Lot store in Radcliff, Kentucky. She was last seen driving home from work at 8:30 p.m. and was never heard from again. At the time of her disappearance, she was entrusted with a bank deposit of nearly $2,500 in cash and checks from the store, which was never deposited. The money, along with her two cell phones, disappeared with her.
Following her disappearance, all calls to her phones went directly to voicemail, and there has been no activity on her bank accounts. Due to the missing funds, a warrant was issued for her arrest. Vickey was a mother to a 17-year-old son, who mentioned they had been planning to move to get away from her live-in boyfriend.
The day after she was last seen, De Laurier's red Honda Civic was found abandoned on the side of Highway 313 near South Boundary Road. This location was described by her family as an unusual route for her to be traveling. The vehicle was discovered parked at a peculiar angle with its doors unlocked, the hazard lights flashing, and a full tank of gasoline. Inside the car were her purse and makeup bag, items she was known to always carry with her, which her son noted was uncharacteristic of her to leave behind. Authorities suggested that the manner in which the car was left indicated that the driver had departed in a hurry. Extensive searches of the area where her car was found, which included the use of bloodhounds and cadaver dogs, did not produce any significant leads.
At the time of her disappearance, Vickey had a pending order of protection against her live-in boyfriend, whom she had accused of threatening to shoot her. She was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing regarding this order the day after she went missing. Despite the circumstances, her boyfriend cooperated with the investigation, passed a polygraph test, and had an alibi for the time she vanished, and is therefore not considered a suspect. Her estranged husband and her son were also investigated and cleared as suspects. The investigation into Vickey De Laurier's disappearance, which is being handled by both the Radcliff and Vine Grove police departments, remains unsolved and she is classified as an endangered missing person.
