In the autumn of 1989, five-year-old Alexandria Christine Suleski vanished from her family's mobile home in Radcliff, Kentucky. Initially, her father, Thomas Suleski, and stepmother, Roxanne Suleski, told authorities that Alexandria had simply wandered off while playing outside their home in the Duvall Mobile Home Park on October 23, 1989. The community and law enforcement launched an extensive search, fearing the little girl had fallen into one of the numerous sinkholes in the area or had
been abducted by a stranger. The family did not officially report her missing until October 26th. As days turned into weeks with no sign of Alexandria, suspicion began to shift towards the possibility of foul play. The initial narrative of a child who had simply wandered away started to unravel, leading investigators to look closer at the circumstances within her own home.
The truth of Alexandria's disappearance remained a dark secret for several years, hidden behind the facade of a family searching for their lost child. The breakthrough in the case came when Alexandria's stepsister, Nyssa, came forward to the FBI. She revealed a horrifying story of abuse that culminated in Alexandria's death. Nyssa testified that their stepmother, Roxanne, had a history of severely punishing Alexandria, particularly for soiling herself. On the day she was last seen, Alexandria was allegedly forced into a plastic garbage bag as punishment. When the odor became strong, Roxanne reportedly placed that bag inside a second one. Nyssa recalled hearing gasping sounds from the bag. The next day, Alexandria was found deceased.
Instead of seeking medical help or alerting the authorities, Thomas and Roxanne chose to conceal the death. They buried Alexandria's small body in a box in a wooded area of Otter Creek Park in neighboring Meade County, Kentucky. In 1993, both Thomas and Roxanne were arrested and subsequently charged with abduction, abuse, and the murder of Alexandria. During the trial, Nyssa's courageous testimony was pivotal. Further evidence was gathered, including a recorded conversation where Thomas admitted to returning to the burial site in 1991, destroying his daughter's skull, and scattering her remains in another state. Despite maintaining their innocence and offering conflicting stories, both were convicted and sentenced to life in prison. The case of Alexandria Suleski is a tragic story of a young life cut short by unimaginable cruelty, a protracted and challenging investigation, and the eventual, painful discovery of the truth.
