In the early morning hours of August 24, 2020, 15-year-old Rosalyn Velazquez vanished from her home at the Azalea Park apartments in Radcliff, Kentucky. She was last seen by her mother at approximately 2:30 a.m. Rosalyn, a student at North Hardin High School, was attending classes from home due to the pandemic. She had moved to the Radcliff area from Kansas with her family two years prior to her disappearance.
Rosalyn is described as a Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet tall and weighing around 150 pounds. She may be wearing glasses and has piercings in her ears and nose. At the time she went missing, she was wearing a blue jacket that had a crest on the front right side.
Rosalyn's mother described her daughter as someone who had become introverted after being bullied, developing a fear of other people. She often found solace in a walk-in closet in their apartment to cope with her anxiety. Rosalyn struggled with social anxiety and depression, for which she was taking medication. On the night she disappeared, she was on Instagram Live and told a friend that she had taken some pills and was walking in the woods. While she took her medication with her, she uncharacteristically left behind personal items she was never without, including her ChapStick and iPhone earbuds. She also took no money, extra clothes, or her phone charger. This was unusual as, although she enjoyed late-night walks, her mother stated it was out of character for her to leave without warning.
The Radcliff Police Department launched an extensive search and investigation into Rosalyn's disappearance. Despite their efforts, which included executing search warrants and analyzing phone and social media records, little information has surfaced about what happened to her. Her iPhone did ping in several different locations within the general area after she went missing. The case remains unsolved and is still considered an active investigation, with law enforcement continuing to follow up on any leads they receive. A $10,000 reward has been offered by the Radcliff Police Department for information that leads to her return. The family has created a Facebook page called "Bring Rosalyn Home" to help publicize her case and keep hope alive for her safe return.
