On May 11, 1989, 42-year-old Frances Lorraine Byrne, who was also known as Franny, went missing from an assisted living facility in Interlachen, Florida. She was last seen sitting on a swing at the facility, which was located in the vicinity of Interlachen Boulevard in Putnam County. Byrne, who had Down syndrome, reportedly wandered away from the facility. Although she had a history of walking off before, she had always remained within sight during previous instances.
At the time of her disappearance, Byrne was described as a white female, 5'2" tall, and weighing 180 pounds. She had short, straight black hair and some facial hair. She was last seen wearing a light-colored t-shirt, striped shorts, and white "New Balance" style sneakers. She was also wearing a gold-colored wristwatch with a black band. Byrne suffered from Down syndrome and was without her necessary medication at the time she went missing.
An investigation was launched into her disappearance, and a tracking dog was used to try and locate her. The dog followed her scent to Interlachen Boulevard before losing the trail. This has led to the possibility that she may have gotten into a vehicle on the road. Few details are available in her case, and she has not been seen or heard from since 1989. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is the investigating agency.
