Linda Lee Lovell, a 25-year-old former student at the University of Montana-Missoula, was last seen in June 1974 in Stinson Beach, California. She was on a hitchhiking trip with 18-year-old Stephen Locke Packard of Hopewell, New Jersey. Their journey began at Packard's home in early June 1974, with the intention of hiking the Pacific Coast Trail from Mexico to Oregon.
Their plans also included attending the World's Fair in Spokane, Washington, and visiting Lovell's family in Missoula, Montana.
The last confirmed contact from the pair was on June 10, 1974, when Packard called his family from Stinson Beach. Postcards from Stinson Beach were also sent to their families. Ten days later, on June 20, a traveler's check in Packard's name was cashed at a store in Westport, California, which is approximately four hours north of Stinson Beach. This was the last sign of either Lovell or Packard.
Lovell is described as a white female, 5'4" tall and weighing 110 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She had faint 1 1/2 inch circular scars on the right side of her stomach above her waistline and on her right lower back. She wore glasses but also used contact lenses. The Santa Maria Police Department in California is investigating the disappearances of Lovell and Packard. Their cases remain unsolved.Last Seen: Jun 1, 1974
