Carol Jean Freeberg, a 58-year-old resident of Hayward, California, has been missing since July 2, 1997. She was last seen in Fremont, California, and disappeared under circumstances that remain unclear. At the time of her disappearance, Freeberg was described as a white female, 5'6" tall, weighing 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has several distinguishing characteristics, including burn scars on both hands and a partially missing left pinky finger. Freeberg is also epileptic and may experience seizures. She was known to use the last names Langston and Liberto.
On the night she was last seen, Freeberg had been line dancing with friends and was reportedly in good spirits. Her vehicle was found still parked in her garage at her home. Notably, it was her employer who reported her missing, not her son with whom she resided.
The investigation into Freeberg's disappearance is being handled by the Hayward Police Department. A few months after she was last seen, her son reportedly disposed of all of her belongings and has been described as being vague about the details surrounding her disappearance. As of today, her case is classified as an endangered missing person, and she has not been heard from again.
