Michael Emmanuel, an 80-year-old man, was last seen on Friday, February 19, 2021, at approximately 6:45 a.m. at the Canebrake Apartments in Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing brown-striped pajama pants and a white vest without any shoes. Emmanuel, who is also known by the nickname "Dodor," is described as a Black male with a dark brown complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. He is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. Concerns were heightened as it was reported that Emmanuel may have been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

The U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department launched an extensive search for Emmanuel immediately following his disappearance. Law enforcement officials, along with community volunteers, conducted searches across Frederiksted. The search efforts, which continued for many days, initially focused on the area around the Canebrake Apartments and Estate Whim, places Emmanuel was known to frequent. The search was later expanded to include neighborhoods such as William's Delight and areas along the shoreline from Carlton to Sandy Point, with the use of drones to scour more isolated locations. Police also investigated a tip that Emmanuel was seen getting into a white truck in the Frederiksted area on the day he went missing.

As the search continued, a reward for information leading to Emmanuel's whereabouts was offered and subsequently increased to $3,200 due to contributions from the community and local businesses. Emmanuel's family, including his daughter Ena Auguste, made public pleas for assistance and organized volunteer search parties. Despite the efforts of police and the community, there were no positive results in locating him. The VIPD continued to ask for the public's assistance with any information regarding his whereabouts. The investigating agency for this case is the US Virgin Islands Police Department, and the agency case number is 21A01330.
