The truck was recorded traveling westbound on Jefferson Highway at South Clearview in Jefferson Parish. Sometime later, the Chevrolet Silverado was discovered abandoned along Interstate 55 and was subsequently towed. A search of the vehicle yielded no signs of Melissa or any clear indication of what might have happened to her. Further complicating the investigation, some of Melissa's most essential personal belongings were found at her boyfriend's residence. These items included her purse, driver's license, debit card, and her cell phone, things a person would typically have with them if they had planned to leave. Melissa is described as a white female with brown or dark blonde long hair and hazel eyes. She has a unique tattoo on her upper right arm of a star positioned above a Fleur-de-Lis.
