Amos Donnell Morgan, a 63-year-old man from Joliet, Illinois, was reported missing by his family, marking the beginning of a period of uncertainty and concern for his loved ones. He was last seen by a family member in the Streator, Illinois area. On the morning of his disappearance, his tan 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was captured on video in Ottawa, Illinois, at 5:12 a.m. According to his family, the days leading up to his disappearance were ordinary. He had traveled from Joliet to Streator to meet his son-in-law for work, a routine they often shared. They were reportedly working on fixing up homes in Decatur. His wife last saw him a few days prior, and it wasn't initially alarming that she hadn't heard from him due to their respective work schedules. However, concern grew when he failed to make a planned meeting to get a new phone, as his had been malfunctioning.

The investigation into Amos Morgan's disappearance involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Joliet Police Department and the LaSalle County Sheriff's Office. A significant development in the case came when his 2005 Chevy Trailblazer was discovered abandoned in a rural area of Otter Creek Township. The vehicle was reportedly first spotted at that location the day after he was last seen. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services processed the vehicle, which was described as being an older model with various mechanical issues, consistent with the family's description. Law enforcement has not publicly disclosed what, if any, items of interest were found inside the vehicle.

Extensive search efforts were launched in the wake of his disappearance. These operations included ground searches coordinated by the LaSalle County Emergency Management Agency, as well as aerial searches utilizing drones and an airplane from the Illinois State Police Air Operations Unit. Specialized K-9 units, including tracking dogs and cadaver dogs, were also deployed to aid in the search. Searches were focused on locations where Morgan had reportedly been working around the time he went missing. Despite these thorough efforts, the searches did not yield any information that could resolve the questions surrounding his disappearance. The investigation remains open and active, with law enforcement continuing to seek information from the public. The case is a painful and unresolved mystery for his family, who remember him as a loving family man and a giving person.
