On July 29, 1955, Clarence Simons, age 31, went missing after a boating accident on Moon Lake in Duchesne County, Utah. Simons was one of five people aboard a small aluminum boat when their trawling gear got caught in the motor, causing the boat to capsize. Witnesses reported that the boat, which had two motors, was circling uncontrollably before overturning.

Though two of the passengers were rescued, Simons, along with his sister Ruby Mae Bosen and her husband Calvin Wayne Bosen, were presumed to have drowned. Despite extensive search efforts in the 115 to 125-foot-deep waters, neither their bodies nor significant remains were ever recovered. The area was searched again two years later without success, and their disappearance remains unsolved to this day.

Simons' case is considered a cold case, and the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office continues to ask for any information that could lead to resolution.
