In the late hours of August 3, 2023, 71-year-old Charles McAlister was last seen at his residence on Chenier Drive in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He reportedly left his home without his medication, wallet, or cell phone. McAlister, who suffers from a medical condition that could impair his memory and judgment, also requires medication for a heart condition.
He is described as a white male with graying brown hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 5'10' tall and weighing around 155 pounds. He wears wire-framed eyeglasses and is missing part of his right middle finger. When last seen, he was believed to be wearing a white sports cap with 'Island Moorings Yacht Club and Marina, Port Aransas, Texas' on it, a light gray t-shirt, light-colored blue jeans, and white New Balance tennis shoes.
The day after his disappearance, in the early morning hours of August 4th, McAlister's white 2011 Toyota Tundra was discovered abandoned in Cameron Parish. The truck was located at the intersection of Rutherford Beach Road and Trosclair Road with minor damage, appearing as though it had gone off the roadway. A nearby stop sign was also damaged. There was no sign of McAlister at the scene. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office was formally notified of his disappearance on August 5th and initiated an investigation, learning that his vehicle had been found and towed in the neighboring parish.

On August 8, 2023, the Louisiana State Police issued a Silver Alert for McAlister due to his medical condition.
