Betty Fran Gladden Smith, aged 49, was last seen on October 1, 1991, at her home in West Windsor Township, New Jersey. Betty, who was recovering from a broken hip at the time, vanished under suspicious circumstances. Her husband, John David Smith III, claimed that Betty had left for an impromptu trip and left behind a note, but her family found this highly unlikely given her limited mobility due to her injury.
