In the cold, early morning hours of a January day in 1997, Robin Trivisonno, a 28-year-old mother of three, vanished from Neptune Township, New Jersey. A resident of Ventnor, she was at a pivotal point in her life, having recently left her job as a dancer to pursue a career in nursing at Atlantic Cape Community College. On the night she went missing, Robin was not working but had returned to her former workplace, the Heartbreakers Go-Go Bar on Route 35, to visit with friends and old co-workers. After spending several hours at the establishment, she began looking for a ride to another club, Delilah's Den, located about 40 miles away in South Amboy, where a friend was a DJ.
Witnesses last saw Robin leaving Heartbreakers at approximately 2:00 a.m., reportedly in an intoxicated state. She wasn't alone; she was seen getting a ride from a man whom none of her co-workers recognized.
This unidentified Caucasian male was described as being well-groomed, in his thirties, with shoulder-length, wavy, light brown hair and blue eyes. The following day, concern grew when Robin's black 1994 Jeep Cherokee was discovered abandoned in a handicapped parking space in the Heartbreakers parking lot. Robin was nowhere to be found, and the man she left with has never been identified.
The case took a perplexing turn about four months after she disappeared when some of her personal belongings were found. Her purse, which still contained $500 in cash, along with her wallet and jacket, were discovered in a wooded area behind Delilah's Den, the very place she had intended to go that night. Despite the discovery of her possessions at the location, no one from the second club reported having seen her there on the night she went missing. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance, and her family believes she is deceased. The investigation into what happened to Robin Trivisonno has been classified as a homicide, leaving her three sons, who were raised by her estranged husband, without answers for decades.
