Yim Yeung Tsui, also known as Jimmy, was last seen on the morning of August 26, 1998, in New Hyde Park, New York. He was 20 years old at the time and a student at Stony Brook University, where he was about to begin his third year. That morning, his sister briefly saw him sleeping in bed before she left for work, and he has not been seen since.
Originally from southern China, Yim and his family moved to the United States in 1988, settling in New Hyde Park.
Described as shy and struggling to adapt due to language barriers, Yim reportedly told his family he was doing well in school. However, after his disappearance, the family received a letter revealing that Yim had been expelled from university due to poor academic performance. His disappearance occurred while his parents were visiting family in Australia, and his older sister was living in Hawaii at the time.
Yim's family has tirelessly searched for him, looking in places he enjoyed, such as the beaches around Port Washington and Chinatown in Manhattan. Despite these efforts, his whereabouts remain unknown. His case remains open, and the Nassau County Police Department continues to investigate.
There have been no confirmed sightings or substantial leads over the years, and in 2011, DNA tests confirmed that a body found on Gilgo Beach was not Yim's. His family continues to seek closure.Last Seen: Aug 26, 1998
