Teresa "Teri" Anne Davidson-Murphy, a 34-year-old mother, was last seen on October 7, 1999, in Rainier, Oregon. At the time, she resided in the 72000 block of Hutchison Road with her second husband, Richard Murphy, and her teenage daughter from a previous marriage. Just a few months prior, in July 1999, the family had moved from Puyallup, Washington, a decision Teresa reportedly regretted as she missed her job, friends, and family there. On the day she was last seen, Teresa dropped her daughter off at a friend's house for a three-day sleepover. That same day, her husband Richard reportedly left for a solo camping trip in Washington's Olympic National Forest. Teresa was known to have brown hair, blue eyes, pierced ears, and a distinctive tattoo of a green rose on her right ankle. When she vanished, it is believed she was wearing a green sweater, blue jeans, and white sneakers, along with her wedding ring and a gold chain necklace. The days following Teresa's last known contact were marked by a series of unsettling events. Her daughter was scheduled to be picked up from the sleepover on October 10th, but Teresa never arrived. After several days of being unable to reach her mother or stepfather, her daughter finally made contact with Richard around October 17th, after he had supposedly returned from his camping trip. He claimed to have no knowledge of Teresa's whereabouts. All of Teresa's personal belongings, including her pickup truck with the keys still in the ignition, were found at her residence. It wasn't until October 23, sixteen days after she was last seen, that Teresa's sister-in-law reported her missing to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. The reason for the delay in reporting her disappearance is not publicly known. Following the missing person report, Richard Murphy also reported that a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun was missing from their home. In the years since her disappearance, no trace of Teresa has been found. Law enforcement announced in August 2001 that they presumed her to be deceased. Her husband, Richard, reportedly told her daughter that he had contacted hospitals and police, but it was later discovered he had not filed a missing person report. Shortly after her disappearance, he sent his stepdaughter to live with her biological father and brother. Teresa's family has expressed that she had begun to see a different side of her husband after their move to Oregon. The case remains an open and active investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter for a family still searching for answers. The circumstances surrounding Teresa's disappearance, including her abandoned vehicle and personal items, the delay in reporting her missing, and the missing firearm, all contribute to the mysterious and troubling nature of her case.
