Roy George Vavra, a 38-year-old man from Gillette, Wyoming, was last seen on January 24, 2006. He had planned to go hunting with a friend that day, leaving a note for his friend that he would be back by 11:00 a.m. However, when the friend arrived, Vavra was not at home, and his personal belongings, including his wallet, truck, and coat, were left behind.
Vavra was last spotted at a convenience store at Highway 50 and Force Road, about two miles from his residence.
He was seen leaving with an unidentified white male in his mid-thirties with short blonde hair, driving a small white pickup truck, possibly a Ford Courier. This was the last confirmed sighting of him.
Years later, in 2009, a man named Jason Larson falsely claimed that Vavra had been murdered and buried on a ranch near Gillette. However, this claim was proven to be fabricated, and no significant leads have emerged since.
