Sharon Nugent, a 27-year-old woman from Syracuse, New York, was last seen on February 6, 2007, after leaving her birthday party. She reportedly returned to the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, James Guilford, but never made it to work the following day. Her abandoned car was discovered in a parking lot a few days later, raising alarm about her whereabouts.
Guilford, with whom she had three children, initially reported her missing but soon moved to Atlanta with the children, raising suspicions. Investigators later found a significant amount of blood in the bedroom of their home and on a hammer that Guilford had taken with him. Despite extensive searches, Sharon's body was never found. Authorities charged Guilford with second-degree murder based on the blood evidence and his statements during questioning.
