In the late summer of 2007, a 23-year-old man from California named Sean Ryan vanished while visiting friends in Hawaii. He was last seen on August 12, 2007, at a friend's residence in the Fern Acres subdivision located in the upper Puna district of the Big Island. At the time of his disappearance, it is believed he was not wearing a shirt and was clad in either white shorts or blue flannel pajama bottoms.
