Reagan Uden, a 10-year-old boy, was last seen on September 12, 1980, along with his mother, Virginia, and older brother, Richard. The family left Virginia's mother's home in Riverton, Wyoming, intending to meet Virginia’s ex-husband, Gerald Uden, for a bird hunting trip. Reagan and Richard even had a rifle with them for the hunt. However, the family never reached their destination, and they were never seen alive again.
Nearly a month later, on October 4, 1980, the family's station wagon was discovered abandoned and vandalized near the Wind River Canyon. The car had been pushed off the road, becoming lodged on rocks, and was covered with pine branches in an apparent attempt to conceal it. Inside the vehicle, large amounts of blood belonging to Virginia were found, raising immediate concerns about foul play.
In 2013, Gerald Uden confessed to the murders of Virginia and her two sons. He admitted that the killings were premeditated and that he shot all three with a .22 caliber rifle before disposing of their bodies in large barrels, which he then dumped into Fremont Lake. Despite extensive search efforts, the bodies of Reagan, Richard, and Virginia have never been recovered.
