Blaine Hector, a 30-year-old man, was last seen on December 24, 2001, at his father’s home in Cornish, New Hampshire. On that day, he had brought a used Saab from a dealership to show his father, who was interested in purchasing the car. However, the dealership reported the vehicle as stolen, and police arrived at the house to investigate. Upon seeing the police, Blaine fled into the woods behind his father’s home. Despite extensive search efforts involving multiple police departments, helicopters, and search dogs, no trace of him was found.

Blaine’s disappearance followed a difficult period in his life. His family noted that he had struggled with depression since the death of his brother, Wade Hector, in a truck accident during the Gulf War in 1991. The emotional toll of this loss led Blaine to drop out of college and grow increasingly detached from his surroundings. At the time of his disappearance, Blaine was married with two children, but after years of no contact, his wife eventually divorced him, citing abandonment. His father passed away in 2004 without ever learning what happened to Blaine, and police staked out the funeral hoping he would appear, but he did not.
