Oded Gordon, a 21-year-old man with autism, was last seen on May 12, 1989, at the Plowshare Farm in Greenfield, New Hampshire, where he lived and worked. The farm catered to young adults with developmental disabilities. On the day of his disappearance, Gordon was working in the garden but became annoyed by flies and left. His caregivers believed he might have gone to sit in a car, but he never returned. He had no identification, coat, or money with him at the time.

Search dogs tracked Gordon's scent for about three miles along Route 31, suggesting he may have been picked up by a passing vehicle. There were later reports of possible sightings of him in nearby areas, including Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Fitchburg, Massachusetts. One man claimed to have picked up Gordon while hitchhiking and dropped him off at a donut shop in Fitchburg. Despite these leads, none of the sightings were conclusively confirmed.

Gordon, who had a hunched posture due to scoliosis, had difficulty communicating and functioned at the level of a seven-year-old. His mother described him as extremely fearful, and he had been making progress at Plowshare Farm before his disappearance. Originally from New York, investigators speculated he may have tried to return there, though his whereabouts remain unknown, and the case is still unsolved.
