Jose Ortiz, a 19-year-old from New Haven, Connecticut, went missing on December 28, 2005. He was last seen riding his bicycle near Poplar and Lombard Streets. On that day, a passerby witnessed a young man, believed to be Ortiz, being abducted by three individuals. The abductors, who were described as being between 15 and 21 years old, forced Ortiz into a silver 1990s Ford Taurus. This was the last time Ortiz was seen, and his bicycle was found abandoned at the scene.
