Beatrice Villela, 19, disappeared under mysterious circumstances on September 28, 1980, in San Antonio, Texas. Villela, a hairstylist at the Budget Beauty Salon, had a planned day involving her boss and former boyfriend, Oscar Lozano. They were supposed to meet at a beauty school to pick up supplies before she was to babysit her niece and nephew, but she never showed up for either. Villela had been in a turbulent relationship with Lozano, which ended prior to her disappearance.
He had initially fired her and taken back several expensive gifts after learning she was seeing another man. However, shortly before she went missing, he rehired her, returned the gifts, and even purchased plane tickets for her to attend a hairstylists’ convention in Chicago. These tickets, however, were never used.
After her disappearance, Villela's vehicle was found over a month later in an apartment complex parking space that did not seem connected to her. Despite an initial search, no substantial leads were developed. Her family suspected foul play early on, given how out of character it was for her to vanish without contact, and investigators also focused on the possibility of foul play. Lozano, though questioned by the police, refused to take a polygraph test when he was not allowed to record it.
