William "Bill" Harry Hollingsworth, a 30-year-old businessman from Oak Island, North Carolina, disappeared on November 12, 1981. Hollingsworth was last seen leaving Oak Island in a 12-foot canoe to set up gill nets in the Frying Pan Shoals area south of Bald Head Island. He encountered a severe storm while on the water and never returned.
