Steve Chaney, age 47, was last seen on August 27, 2017, when he and his friend, David Hambrick, departed for a fishing trip from the South Harbor Boat Ramp in Oak Island, North Carolina. The two men set out around 11:30 a.m. aboard a 22-foot fishing boat. When they did not return as expected by dark, the spouse of one of the men reported them missing.
