Daniel was last seen around 7:30 p.m. riding his bicycle away from his house on Nightingale Place. Despite an extensive search by neighbors, his bike was later found hidden in bushes along the Alameda Creek Trail, but there was no sign of Daniel.
Approximately one month after his disappearance, it was reported that someone, believed to be Daniel, returned to his home while his family was away and took his belongings and $50 in cash. This led investigators to initially classify him as a runaway. However, by 2015, new information and a renewed investigation led authorities to suspect foul play, as it is highly unusual for a runaway to remain missing for decades without any contact.
Fremont Police reopened the case in 2015 after a potential sighting of someone resembling Daniel in Folsom, California, but it turned out to be a false lead. Investigators are now focusing on the possibility that Daniel did not leave voluntarily and may have met with foul play. His case remains unsolved, and law enforcement continues to seek information from the public that could help resolve this mystery.
