Summary based on the NamUs case record (MP8677) and 7 other sources
Cheryl Lynn Vasquez, age 19, was last seen on June 28, 1987, in El Paso, Texas. She had gone to a Circle K convenience store on McCombs Street around 9:22 p.m. to purchase cigarettes for a friend. Cheryl was spotted speaking to a white male with blonde hair in the parking lot, who was driving a beige pickup truck with stripes. That was the last time anyone saw her.

At the time of her disappearance, Cheryl was wearing a white T-shirt with an animal design, blue jeans, and possibly white slip-on sandals or high-top sneakers. She stood between 5'6" and 5'9" and weighed approximately 110 pounds. Cheryl's case is classified as endangered missing, and foul play is strongly suspected, especially given the wave of disappearances and murders of young women in the El Paso area around the same time.

Several other young women disappeared from El Paso in 1987, many of whom were later found murdered and buried in the desert. Authorities have considered the possibility that Cheryl may have been a victim of David Leonard Wood, a convicted serial killer who was arrested in 1987 and later sentenced to death for the murders of six young women. However, Wood has not been officially charged in connection with Cheryl's disappearance, and her body has never been found.

Cheryl had recently married Robert Dismukes, who was serving a prison sentence at the time, though the reasons for their marriage remain unclear. Despite extensive investigations, Cheryl's case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to seek information regarding her disappearance.
