Herlinda Ann Soto, a 43-year-old woman, was last seen on July 2, 1993, in El Paso, Texas. Her disappearance occurred under suspicious and violent circumstances. On that day, Herlinda's ex-husband, Ulises Soto, picked up their two young sons for the weekend. A friend spoke to Herlinda on the phone around 11:00 p.m., which was the last confirmed contact anyone had with her. When Ulises returned with the children on July 5, he found signs of a violent struggle in her home.
Blood was discovered smeared across the garage floor, walls, and a trail leading outside to where her car was usually parked. Her car, a 1989 Mercury Tracer, was later found abandoned in an industrial area near the desert, about four miles from her home. Blood was also found in the trunk, suggesting her body may have been transported, but Herlinda was never located.
Herlinda was a health inspector and an Army reservist, having served in Operation Desert Storm. Herlinda's divorce with Ulises had been contentious, and she had recently regained custody of their children. Authorities suspect foul play, believing more than one person may have been involved in her disappearance, but no arrests have been made. Despite efforts, her body has never been found, and the case remains unsolved.
