Erika, who had been dropped off at her apartment earlier in the evening, posted several updates on social media during the concert, including a selfie and a stage photo. She was last heard from in the early morning hours of July 14, and her family reported her missing two days later.
At the time of her disappearance, Erika was facing multiple charges related to credit card abuse and criminal mischief, but authorities emphasized that they believed she had not disappeared voluntarily. Her case soon took a dark turn when her concert date, Ricardo Marquez, was arrested in December 2019 and charged with her murder. Marquez claimed that they had an argument after the concert and that Erika left his home via a ride-share service, but no records supported this. Investigators found evidence linking Marquez to her suspected death, including blood matching Erika's DNA in his vehicle.
