He was reportedly traveling with an acquaintance named Max Thomas, and authorities believe they may have been heading to Houston. Riley has not been seen since, and his disappearance was not reported until seven years later, in 1999. This delay has complicated efforts to uncover what happened to him, and foul play is suspected in his case.
