Virginia Pictou-Noyes, a 26-year-old Mi'kmaq woman and mother of five, disappeared on April 27, 1993. She had been taken to the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after being assaulted, allegedly by her husband, Larry Noyes, and his brother. Larry was arrested and later released on bail. Virginia, still recovering from her injuries, left the hospital before her treatment was complete, stating that she urgently needed to return to her children in Easton.
