Robin Murphy, a 17-year-old from Carmel, New York, was last seen on April 9, 1995. She was on her way to meet her boyfriend for dinner at a local restaurant but stopped at the ShopRite Plaza on Route 52. Witnesses last saw her walking through the plaza around 7:30 p.m., but she never reached the restaurant. Her car, which she had borrowed from her mother, was found parked near a Burger King in the shopping center parking lot.
Several days later, her personal items, including her keys, wallet, and purse, were discovered in a grassy area behind the shopping center.
Robin's disappearance has long been suspected to involve foul play, and searches of local ponds and the nearby Tilly Foster mine yielded no results. Investigators later named Howard Gombert, a convicted criminal serving a 30-year sentence for unrelated sexual assault charges, as a suspect. Robin's underwear, with her DNA, was found in Gombert's possession, but he denied involvement, claiming he had taken them from a laundromat where he worked. Despite this, no charges have ever been brought against him in connection with Robin's case.
Robin was described as 5'9", 140 pounds, with dyed black hair and blue eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing ripped black jeans, a plaid flannel shirt, and black boots. Over the years, her case has remained unsolved, and her family continues to seek answers.Last Seen: Apr 9, 1995
